Viva Mexico: 3 days in Mérida
I have been dreaming of visiting Mérida! The Spanish colonial town lost in a different time…
Lucky for me, we will be reaching on a Saturday and we are staying right by the Paseo de Montejo, the beautiful main avenue, full of colourful and historical buildings!
On Sundays, the City of Mérida closes Paseo de Montejo and lets its citizens cycle freely! A great way to enjoy the various landmarks, stop for coffee or ice cream and do a bit of cardio…! This is the city’s initiative to encourage families to exercise, as overweight becomes a national health issue. Why? Well because you’ve guessed it! In Mexico, food is good!
Food is good and It is my intention to put my tastebuds to the Mexican test! I have already collected several addresses that me and bae will surely bless with our presence! Citrusy pulled pork tacos is on my list of things to try in Mérida, as well as Tequila! I vow to find the best, most authentic Mexican spots to eat and drink! The very sight of a tourist shall be enough to make me run! Alas, I don’t thing I’ll be able to avoid the idiots… (dark humor here). No jokes though, I want all in on this trip! I’ll come back from Mexico on a horse, with a moustache and a hat! I’m going LOCAL! Wish me luck! Next stop? Bacalar!
